This full, hands-on experience is a MUST for any aspiring portrait photographer. It’s an ideal opportunity for intermediate photographers who want to develop their location photography and gain experience of working with professional models. It is especially suited for photographers who are interested in developing skills to support commercial, model, beauty, actor and professional / corporate portraiture.

For three packed days you will be honing your craft, working with professional models and capturing stunning photographs to use in your portfolio. You will walk away from this experience with a broader photographic skill set, an improved understanding of location lighting, and a richer portfolio.

The PPE is more than a just photo tour. It’s a four day experience, filled with photo shoots with gorgeous models in amazing locations, great food, Port wine, based in the beautiful city of Porto, Portugal (don’t just take our word for it: the UNESCO seems to agree, and the city has repeatedly been considered one of Europe’s Best Destinations!).

In late 2008 I left my technical stage theatre job in the UK, packed up my suitcase, put on my coat and hat in true Paddington Bear style, and bought a one-way plane ticket to Portugal.  Why? Well… I had of course fallen for Filipe, who also happened to be Portuguese.

I had moved out of London from a fast paced career in technical stage – and suddenly found myself in a relaxed, so-slow-it-feels-like-it’s-going-backwards paced Portugal.

The first three years were… how shall I put it?… ah: awful. Learning a new language, learning a new culture, learning that not everything happens exactly on time. Yes, I had clearly packed and brought my Britishness with me.

But Filipe and I travelled up and down Portugal from coast to coast, and right from the beginning I found myself stealing his DSLR all the time… and in the first year of me living here I think he must have become fed up with it, because he finally bought me one of my own. (His was still better, mind, but I wasn’t jealous. Not one bit. Honest. Grrr…)

Through the camera’s lens I discovered Portugal. It helped me fit in. It helped me see the culture. It gave me a reason to go out and seek the sunsets, the people, the food, the places, and in the end, fall in love with the country as much as I had fallen in love with Filipe for bringing me here.

Didn’t I tell you this was a love story? 😉 Well, I guess it is, and I have 100% fallen in love with this country. And if you let me show it to you, I know you will too.
